ABSTRACT

Recruiting and hiring decisions must reflect the vision and values of the company. The recruiting and hiring process may be managed by a human resource or personnel department. A job description states clearly the skills, knowledge, and physical requirements of the position. Recruiting involves seeking and attracting a diverse pool of qualified candidates for a position. It is important that managers consider the legal impact of recruiting and hiring. The recruiting process yields applicants whose qualifications must be assessed against the requirements of the job and the culture of the company. Interviews are the most widely used method to select staff members, they can create a host of problems. One of the most significant in this regard is that interviews are subject to the same legal requirements of validity and reliability as other steps in the recruitment and selection process. Recruiting and selection procedures that are well developed and applied assist in hiring the best possible candidates for the company.
