ABSTRACT

Four candidates, denoted A, B, C, and D, are interested in public office. Seven voters rate the candidates according to the profile:

3 2 2

C B A

B A D

A D C

D C B

Assume that the preference orders of the voters do not change with time and that candidate A is the incumbent. Imagine that, one year, candidate B challenges A in a two-candidate election. The next year, in a second two-candidate election, candidate C challenges the winner of the first election. Finally, a year after that, candidate D challenges the winner of the second election.
