ABSTRACT

You and an opponent play a game in which you together count down “one-two-three-shoot!” and, when you say “shoot!”, you extend your hand showing either one or two fingers. If one player shows two fingers while the other shows one finger, the player who shows two fingers gets $10 (from the referee) and the opponent gets nothing. If both players show two fingers, both players receive $1. If both players show one finger, both players receive $9. Each player is assumed to be utterly indifferent to the fortune of the opponent. The object is to acquire as much money as possible, not to defeat the opponent.
