ABSTRACT

In the theory of waves, the related subjects of inverse source problems and inverse scattering correspond to a large range of applications. We have already seen a typical inverse source problem in Chapters 1 and 2 where we discussed the antenna synthesis problem. In this chapter, we look at inverse scattering problems together with absorption. Though the former problems are non-linear, we will be predominantly interested in the linearised versions. However, we will say a few words about resolution for the non-linear problems. The problemswe consider are analysed using the generalisedeigenfunction, Fourier or singular-function methods we have promoted throughout the book.
