ABSTRACT
Diabetes is a disease syndrome with at least 50 possible causes . The total number of diabetics in the United States is estimated to be 29 million or almost 10% of the population . There are more than 422 million people worldwide living with diabetes, and it contributes to 3 .7 million deaths . Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States, with a quarter of a million people dying from it as an underlying or contributing cause .
