ABSTRACT

Computer systems exchanging data electronically with other systems should include, if technically feasible, appropriate built-in checks for the correct computer inputs and outputs (I/Os).

Why are built-in checks required for electronic interfaces if the interface has been validated?‡ The question cannot be answered as such. The checks of data built into the interface are tested within the context of validation. Changes in a system can be problematic if they concern data that is transferred via that interface.
