ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on the control and filtering problems for nonlinear stochastic systems with the engineering-oriented complexities. It addresses the traditional engineering phenomena and randomly occurring incomplete information. During the past several decades, a great number of theories and techniques have been developed to handle the engineering-oriented complexities. The book discusses a series of analysis and synthesis techniques handling the engineering-oriented complexities. It provides the research background, motivation and research problems, which mainly involve the stochastic nonlinear systems, complex networks, networked control systems, parameter-varying systems, control and filtering, and gain-scheduling technique. The book is concerned with the filtering problem for a class of nonlinear genetic regulatory networks with state-dependent stochastic disturbances and state delays. It also addresses robust stability and stabilization problems for a class of stochastic time-delay interval systems with nonlinear disturbances by using the delay-dependent analysis technique.
