Jasmonic acid is also produced by plants as part of the systemic acquired resistance (SAR) when SAR is triggered in plants (e.g., via spray application of harpin protein to various plants, via chewing of insects on the leaves of certain plants, and/or via the entry into plant of certain pathogenic bacteria/fungi).
