ABSTRACT

The Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani (ASU) Drugs Consultative Committee shall consist of two persons to be nominated by the Central Government as representatives of that Government and not more than one representative of each State to be nominated by the State Government concerned. The definition of drug under the Act is comprehensive and even the machine which is an article is - covered by the definition. Unlike the definition of the drug under Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, it brings within its ambit medicines of all systems including Ayurvedic drugs. The Drugs & Cosmetics Act does not define these ASU products which fall under categories Neutraceutical, food supplements and cosmetics, etc. An Act to control the advertisement of drugs in certain cases, to prohibit the advertisement for certain purposes of remedies alleged to possess magic qualities and to provide for matters connected therewith.
