Knowledge management is a key part of Shire's strategy for ensuring a robust and resilient supply chain. For Shire, with a complex network of more than 50 contract manufacturing organizations on four continents that supply product to more than 70 countries worldwide, understanding the factors that affect product performance and their impact on supply is essential. A critical component of any successful strategy is the people. The processes behind Shire's successful deployment of knowledge management have evolved from 2010 to today. In addition to using the Drexler/Sibbet Team PerformanceTM Model to assess team performance, the product and quality technical teams have product-specific team goals and goals common to all teams. The governance of the knowledge management framework has several components. In addition to informing the organization of supply chain risks due to product performance, the technical product dashboards are also part of quality oversight.
