ABSTRACT

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) faced a challenge in providing what their customers wanted at the right time every time. This chapter provides a case study that shares the BMS journey in establishing a marketplace for knowledge, which has increased knowledge velocity and continues to enhance the culture of collaboration. The ability to achieve this directly fits with the BMS Mission and as shown in the 'Who Are You Working for Campaign', why employees come to work: making a difference for the patient. Vanguard is an example of a project that was developed and led from within the organization, showcasing the importance of listening to employees and empowering people, irrespective of their organizational role to come together, discuss, and attempt to resolve business challenges and develop scalable solutions. BMS introduced Microsoft SharePoint as the key collaboration platform worldwide.
