ABSTRACT

Some people are most helpful when changes are being made. Some people can be very obstructive. The difference between working in a team that pulls together rather than in different directions is immense on a personal level, but can make the difference between success and failure. With improvement and change comes unfortunate news for some. Principally this is loss of employment or changes in working conditions or position. The difference between step and incremental change used to be characterized by the difference between industry in the West and in Japan. Paired comparisons are useful for determining the relative importance of factors that may be quite complex. It is also helpful to get people to agree on the relative importance. One of the most frequent uses of paired comparisons is for ranking supplier selection criteria. Willing and able people understand people's thinking and the need for change.
