ABSTRACT

Since time immemorial, ingredients have been added for improving various features of food to make it more palatable and reliable. It all started with preservation of food by additives like salt. In ancient times, cloves were added to food to prevent bacterial growth. The Egyptian Era saw the use of food colors, seasoning, spices, and avors. The spices were worth sometimes more than human lives during Middle Ages. Columbus also discovered America when he explored the world through sea route in search of spices of India.
