ABSTRACT

In order for us to see, there must be light. Objects must “appear bright” so that we can see them in detail; when light dims, objects lose their color, and when they are enshrouded in dark, we cannot see them at all. Even a well-lit visual target must be at the correct distance from our eyes so that we can distinguish particulars. If our eyesight is not perfect, and as we age, it is especially important to have good lighting to carefully locate things that we must see, and we may need to refine or correct our vision with artificial lenses.
