ABSTRACT

Codes of ethics adopted by professional associations and organisations are generally recommendations for good practice and maintaining the status of the profession. Whether one complies or not is a voluntary decision. Some aspects in the codes such as being polite to clients are merely advisory and there are no prescribed remedies for violations or even procedures for determining whether a violation has occurred or not. However, a person who breaches these codes may not be regarded as professional by members of society and may not receive work from users of his or her services.
