ABSTRACT

It is important to maintain people’s well-being throughout their lives. In order to achieve this goal, people should have a possibility of exercising physically and mentally. People with special needs and the elderly people are too often considered a minor and marginalized group, who have no use or even interest in game technology. Our goal was to create easily approachable games with low costs that suit the majority of people, despite physical or cognitive limitations. We used mobile phones as game controllers, as the majority already own a mobile phone and it is easy to get them for a reasonable prize. Mobile phones also have several built-in sensors that can be used to track almost any kind of movement with the right algorithms. In addition, they have other features that can be used to enhance well-being in terms of games. These types of serious games can be called exergames or rehabilitation games, depending on the purpose of the game.
