ABSTRACT

The first responsibility of project managers is generally regarded as project delivery in response to their project sponsors’ demands, with the main objective of getting the job done. This view risks reducing project managers’ role to simply following orders. Rather, because project managers’ decisions involve people and resources, and might impact the environment, they require ethical commitment, going beyond the mere delivery of the project. Conflicts that might affect project cost, schedule, risks, safety, and quality of deliverables may generate ethical issues throughout the project life cycle.
