ABSTRACT
In addition to the overlying climate, the underlying geology is at the core of understanding the Everglades. With the modern focus on the ecosystem’s restoration, knowledge of the region’s geology has gained added importance. To set the stage for exploring the Everglades, this chapter probes beneath the surface into the geologic setting of the Everglades region.
