ABSTRACT

TRIZ (Theoria Resheneyva Isobretatelskehuh Zadach) is a Russian acronym for the “theory of inventive problem solving.” The term is pronounced as “trēz” or “trees.” The methodology is also sometimes called TIPS because of the English translation. It is an analytical methodology that was developed by Genrich S. Altshuller, a Russian inventor and naval officer, in 1946. The methodology was developed through the analysis of over three million patents. TRIZ is a theory based on the concept that there are universal principles that drive invention and creativity.
