ABSTRACT

The use of smart devices within organizations adds a layer of complexity when it comes to regulatory compliance. For example, if an organization deals with health-related data, and that data are now housed within the smart device, the need to protect that information on the smart device is a requirement if they are to be compliant with regulations like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Also, if you are a retailer and are accepting credit cards using smart devices, the requirement to secure the information on the smart device to be compliant with regulations like the Payment Card Industry (PCI) becomes necessary.
