ABSTRACT

The general worldwide acceptance of smart devices has made them one of the most ubiquitous technologies. They can be found in every industry including automotive, financial, retail, manufacturing, oil and gas, banking, and government agencies. They can be found among all walks of life: schoolteachers, students, salespeople, warehouse workers, distribution workers, oil rig tool pushers, photographers, etc. Like clockwork, smart device manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung seem to find new uses, sometimes driven by users, and new designs to keep the user always interested. Between four and six months, a new device will be introduced to the market, only to be usurped by a faster, smarter, and sleeker device from a competitor. The question, then, is how are we using these smart devices, and what are their benefits that keep us interested?
