ABSTRACT

This chapter examines security-related issues introduced by the mobile crowdsensing platforms, such as ensuring the reliability, quality, and liveness of the sensed data. By leveraging smartphones, we can seamlessly collect sensing data from various groups of people at different locations using mobile crowdsensing. As the sensing tasks are associated with monetary incentives, participants may try to fool the mobile crowdsensing system to earn money. The participants may also try to provide faulty data in order to influence the outcome of the sensing task. Therefore, there is a need for mechanisms to validate the quality of the collected data efficiently. This chapter discusses these issues in detail and presents solutions to address them.
