ABSTRACT
Reactions of synthetic polymers often mimic similar reactions involving small molecules where size is the main dierence. ere are some exceptions such as where near groups may hinder or assist in the reaction where dierences occur. Here, the main dierences are often kinetic, though some geometrical dierences are found for specic cases. A reaction where the rate of reaction in polymers is enhanced by the presence of neighboring groups is called anchimeric assistance.
