Faults made in planning and planting an orchard cannot easily be reversed. Before establishing a new orchard block, it is important to carefully assess the factors that will ultimately affect fruit quality and orchard sustainability. This research determines the major criterion and critical characteristics of each of the criterion in establishing an orchard and their contributions in planting a variety of fruits. The domain knowledge is acquired through literature analysis and domain experts including horticulturists, agricultural economists, and entomologists. Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process is adopted to analyze the relative weight and the ranking of significance of individual factor. The results provide substantial support to the farmers in decision-making toward land segment for farming a variety of fruits in an orchard.
