ABSTRACT

Surgery Report The patient was placed in the right lateral recumbent position. An approach to the ilium through a lateral incision was performed. A 2.0 mm 8-hole DCP plate was contoured to the general shape of the ilium and applied to the fracture, although there was some medial deviation of the caudal segment. Two 2.0 mm screws were first placed in screw holes 6 and 7. Thereafter, the cranial plate was manually pressed to the wing of the ilium; thereby lateralizing the caudal aspect of the ilium. Screws 3 and 4 were applied in dynamic compression. The remaining screws were applied in the order 5-8-1-2. All screws were selected for lengths to only engage the ilium and not the sacrum. Routine closure was performed.
