ABSTRACT

Ethylcellulose is one of the most widely used water-insoluble polymers for the coating of solid dosage forms (Rekhi and Jambhekar 1995, Siepmann et al. 2008a). Although coating with organic polymer solutions is still widespread, aqueous ethylcellulose dispersions have been developed to overcome problems associated with organic solvents (environmental concerns, high cost, residual solvents, toxicity, and explosion hazards) (Banker and Peck 1981, Chang et al. 1987, Felton 2013).
