ABSTRACT

From the perspective of an organization, sustainability is the capability of an organization to transparently manage its responsibilities for environmental stewardship, social well-being, and economic shared value over the long term while being held accountable by its stakeholders. The concept of operating responsibly is at the core of an organization's sustainability program. The reality is that very few parent organizations have fully embedded or integrated sustainability into the way they operate day in and day out. It is important that the members or workers in every organization understand their organization's strategic objectives. These objectives need to be transparent to both internal and external stakeholders. Every organization operates in an uncertain world. This presents the operations with opportunities and threats. Risk management and uncertainty analysis must be a part of the sustainability program once it is integrated into the operation of the organization.
