Building Larger Groups from Smaller Groups

In this chapter, we will use the smaller groups that we have previously studied as building blocks to form larger groups. We will discover that all finite abelian groups can be constructed using just the cyclic groups Z _n . In fact, we will find that all small groups of order 15 or less can be expressed in terms of the groups we have studied.
