ABSTRACT

For 13 airplane components subjected to a life test, there were 10 failures and 3 censored components indicated as underlined in Table 17.1. The failure times are expressed in hours [1–4]. The testing was terminated at the time of the last failure. The two-parameter Weibull model was found to provide an acceptable description [2]. In linear regression (RRX) plotting (Section 8.9), the two-parameter Weibull model description was found to be superior to that of the two-parameter lognormal model [3]. Choosing between the two-parameter Weibull and lognormal models was considered difficult principally because of the small sample size [4]. It was suggested that the exponential model might yield a plausible description [4]. Failure Times (h) with 3 Times Censored
