ABSTRACT

Children experience a surprising variety of gastrointestinal conditions, many of which leave clinicians searching for an expanded range of treatment options. Advancements in understanding of the intricate connections between the gut-inflammatory-immune and neuronal systems have highlighted the value of an integrative approach to gastrointestinal disorders. The material reviews some gastrointestinal conditions where integrative approaches have been shown to be useful in children and is not meant as an exhaustive review of the specialty (Day 2013).
