ABSTRACT

Abstract: This chapter provides a broad understanding of the recent developments in the eld of composites and nanocomposites. It explains the signicance of green composites over traditional composites. The current status, trends and opportunities of different classes of composites offer great prospects in all engineering disciplines. The chapter provides an overview of advantages and challenges of the various types of nanocomposites, such as metal oxide nanocomposites, polymer nanocomposites, carbon-based nanocomposites and nanoclayreinforced nanocomposites” It also focuses on polymers and different strategies toward renewable plastics and discusses latest developments of the polymer composites; strong, renewable and inexpensive natural-bre-based composites; new advanced forms of bre-reinforced polymer materials; and green biodegradable synthetic polymer composites.
