ABSTRACT

Table 5.1 lists all malfunctions with their corresponding explanations and each malfunction includes a list of related symptoms.

Note 1: Significant overspeed is a rear occurrence that normally results in serious degradation or even destruction of the generator, turbine, and/or other rotating components. This topic belongs in the realm of generator protection and it is not covered in this book. The reader may refer to Chapter 4 of the Handbook of Large Turbo-Generator Operation and Maintenance by G. Klempner and I. Kerszenbaum (2008).
