ABSTRACT

Defining the boundaries of a district cooling system at the beginning where the provision of chilled water is intended, is of paramount importance. Failure to define the district boundaries can create problems in the future, such as an undersized or oversized refrigeration capacity of the plant. This also applies to sizing and routing the chilled water-piping network. Failure to properly define the boundaries may also lead to conflicts between the district cooling provider and the users/developers, resulting in disruption of service and financial losses to all parties involved.
