ABSTRACT
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is an optimization based approach to measuring the comparative efficiencies of a number of entities that produce outputs from inputs. In the basic setup, which we explore here, there are n entities “decision making units” (DMUs) — to be compared with regard to their performance in converting one or more input factors to one or more output factors. We assume that we have the factor data for all of the DMUs.
