ABSTRACT

Much has been written and considered since the worldwide pandemic scares of 2009. At the time this book was being written, another health scare-that of ebola-was grabbing international headlines. And although ebola and the u are as dissimilar as the sun and the moon, much of the preparatory activity for dealing with them both involves some of the same components. Even given what has taken place over the past several years, there is still debate in many organizations about the necessity of having a pandemic plan in place and whether or not critical resources, such as time, money, and supplies, should be devoted to this as a bona de risk. The fact is that outbreak pandemics with novel outbreaks are recurring events. They are unpredictable and result in serious health effects to a large proportion of the population with signicant disruption to the social, economic, and security concerns of the community.
