ABSTRACT
The completion of the human (Homo sapiens) genome still remains a work in progress. By the time the first draft was reported in 2003, it was clear that there were major obstacles to be overcome to complete detailed analyses of the genomic sequence data. One obstacle was that only about 1.5%–2.0% of the DNA in the genome contained protein-encoding genes (Figure 34.1).
