ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we describe some ways to approximate the Navier–Stokes equations that have been developed in the mathematical literature since the seminal work of Leray [276]. We focus more precisely on the a-models that have been studied by Holm, Titi and others. More approximation models will be studied in the next chapter.
