ABSTRACT

Neuroimaging has become an umbrella term for the ever-increasing number of minimally invasive medical imaging techniques used to study the brain. These include a variety of rapidly evolving technologies for measuring brain properties related to structure, function, development and disease pathophysiology. These technologies are currently being applied in a vast number of medical and scientific areas of inquiry, and have found applications in a wide variety of fields, including neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, neurology, economics and political science. Today, understanding the brain has become arguably one of the most complex, important and challenging issues in science, and imaging has become an invaluable tool in this endeavor.
