ABSTRACT
Valerie Knudson, Sally Cummings, Curtis Mathews, and the other imaginary characters in the fictional episodes that comprised Chapter 1 know “the problem.” At least they “know” how their date with disaster left them feeling. They “know” the fear, the hurt, and the continuing anxiety they have about the future. They have learned the meaning of vulnerability. And like all other disaster victims, they are forever changed.
