ABSTRACT

This chapter presents several real case studies that demonstrating the usefulness of the proposed ranking method in the field of new product development (NPD) and industrial research. It illustrates several in-depth applications on the topics of ranking multivariate populations specifically devoted to support the development process of new products in industry. In the field of NPD research is often aimed at evaluating the product/service performances from a multivariate aspect, that is, in connection with more than one aspect/dimension and/or under several conditions. The use of suitable statistical methods for the analysis of experimental data is a key factor in obtaining an effective and fast NPD process. Sensory analysis is a quantitative statistical subject aimed at using human senses for the purposes of evaluating consumer products. The discipline requires a panel of human assessors, by whom the products are evaluated.
