ABSTRACT

In the early 1960s, before personal computers and programs written to do the calculations existed, analyses of bioassay data were a horrendous chore. PoloJR produces essential information needed to analyze binary response data with accuracy and ease of interpretation. In the Windows format, the output of the original POLO, POLO-PC, and PoloPlus programs has been streamlined to include data entry and availability to MacIntosh users, thus eliminating the need to use a separate computer for calculations or another program for data entry. Of the commercially available probit or logit programs, PoloJR is one of the very few that can be easily used and understood by users who are not statisticians. The carefully condensed results eliminate the intermediate calculations that tend to clutter other programs and confuse users. The hypothesis of parallelism is rejected and the lines have slopes that are significantly different. Jessica and Paula conclude that the relative response rates of their populations appear to be different.
