ABSTRACT

Companies are measured by various types of Lean assessment tools but most just need the basics. There are many facets to assessing or evaluating the adoption or deployment of Lean. At a lot of companies, people are more dependent on the Lean guys for standard answers from Lean, instead of working with the Lean guys and finding out the answers themselves; therefore, frontline people end up trusting more on their experience and working habits instead of real standard work. Companies are measured by various types of Lean assessment tools but most just need the basics. Lean has a greater chance of being successfully deployed if it is viewed as strategic and that is driven from the top by the CEO and board level who have established a compelling reason to engage in Lean. The strategic category encompasses the components that impact the organizations strategic design and is the impetus for the why behind engaging in Lean.
