ABSTRACT

Ultrawideband (UWB) radar systems give the user X-ray vision into the ground, solid materials, and through walls. Special purpose systems can detect small movements to remotely measure human vital signs in hospitals and hazardous environments. Large arrays of UWB radars can provide real-time imaging to search for concealed weapons on people passing through a security choke point. Special airborne sets can provide precision terrain maps and locate targets concealed by foliage. The U.S. Air Force Space Command’s (AFSPC) Haystack UWB Satellite Imaging Radar (HUSIR) can make high-resolution images of satellites at synchronous orbit ranges under all weather conditions.
