ABSTRACT

Violence in the workplace has quickly become a major consideration for safety professionals in order to safeguard their employees and organizational assets. Proper preparedness to address the potential risk of violence in the workplace is a major area of concern for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and thus for safety professionals, who should consider taking any and all precautions necessary to keep their employees safe. Safety professionals should be able to identify the signs of potential violence and work to provide methods to address the situation before the employee becomes violent. The OSHA has stated in their regulations that "any employer in the business to provide goods and services that employs people shall provide a safe and healthful work environment". A preventive maintenance plan for violence should be in effect to deal with violence or even the threat of violence.
