ABSTRACT

Air-tightness of houses in Japan has become an efficient means of promoting reduction of air conditioning load and saving energy. It is easy to estimate that houses with high air-tightness without enough ventilation airflow rates produce more pollution of chemical substances in indoor air. Therefore we performed a measurement survey on chemical substance concentrations in indoor air, air-tightness, and air change rate to determine indoor air pollution due to chemical substances in actual houses, mostly those where sick-house syndrome was present [1].
