ABSTRACT
The experimental environments to be discussed in this book are shown again in Figure 3.1. An experimental investigation generally begins with a preliminary exploration design (if appropriate) or a screening design in order to get the number of factors that we need to examine down to a manageable level. Then we move on to an optimization strategy. So it would seem logical to begin our discussion of experimental designs with variance components or screening. However, we will not do that.
