ABSTRACT
An improved understanding of the marine climatology is necessary for numerous marine and coastal activities, such as offshore platforms, the assessment of flooding risk, the design of marine structures and the evaluation of wave energy resources (Laugel, et al. 2014). Extreme waves, storms and storminess in general have a major impact upon coastal populations and ecosystems.
