ABSTRACT
The goal of this paper is to compare the two failure models and find out how they differ in throughput analysis. For two-machine lines, a similar work has been done by Li et al. 2006. Their numerical experiments show that the two failure models lead to similar throughputs and the difference is small and can be neglected. In this paper, we will investigate whether this statement is true for long production lines, and if it is not, under what conditions the two models will lead to significantly different results.
