ABSTRACT

In this study, we applied the Mora & Vahrson (1994) method to estimate the landslide susceptibility along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The method includes only two triggering factors (seismicity and precipitation) that are typical of the region of Central America, where it originates from We consider that a discrepancy of this method is the omission of ‘abrasion/erosion’ factor for landslide triggering which is very important for seaside areas such as the Black sea coast line. According to the specific peculiarities of the Bulgarian sea-side strip, we add a new triggering factor concerning the abrasion and erosion activity along the sea coast and rivers banks, which has to be taken into consideration, and we propose it should be marked as Te .
