ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method is a kind of reliability analysis tool of prevention rather than an afterward remedy, which is used in evaluating the new design or checking the progress of design, so as to reduce the failure rate of the product in production or its procedure. It is a systematic method that is used to identify and investigate the potential weakness of products or production procedures. This study adopts the FMEA method to discuss the Failure Effect phenomenon that the finished product has poor appearance, which is caused by processing factors such as cast pouring, modeling and laser, and ink sealing. According to the results of this study, the poor influences on the finished product’s appearance in the production process is revealed. And more importantly, the priority of risk factors and weight values of potential failure caused is ranked, which can be taken as reference by the engineering personnel to reduce the quality appearance’s abnormity and give suggestions on the items that urgently need improvement. As a result, effective and preventive measures can also be taken to reduce the abnormality cost in production as well as the faults step by step, so as to improve the quality and the product yield.
